About Monica
Monica Marquez built the talent and leadership systems inside Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Ernst & Young, and Google. Today she is Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of FlipWork.
The Work Now
The part technology cannot solve.
Monica helps leaders redesign how the work gets done, gives managers what they need to make new behavior safe, and builds the practice that turns into a durable habit.
Where She Learned It
Monica grew up in a small West Texas town where the path to success felt narrow, and nobody around her had taken a different one.
She moved to New York knowing no one. On her first day she stood in front of a subway map she could not read, and got on the train anyway. She got lost, asked, corrected, and found her way.
That is still how she thinks about change. You do not need to feel ready to begin. You need to begin in order to get ready.
A Lesson From My Mother
“El que no cambia con el tiempo, el tiempo lo cambia a él.”
He who does not change with time, time changes him.
Her mother meant it as a warning. Monica came to hear it as a description of how change actually works. What stops people is rarely the tool in front of them. It is the fear of losing the thing they are good at.
Why It Shapes the Work
Monica has never believed people are the hard part of change. They are the part everyone skips. Every system she builds at FlipWork starts from what people need in order to move, not from what the technology can do.
